Work with partners 1

Finally got around to putting together my notes on working with partners.

It is important to recognize that your own state is the key factor affecting any type of work. The condition your mind and body is in reflects on how well you do and feel when training; their impact is even more obvious when you work with partners.

Self-defense instructors usually encourage students to work with all types of opponents of different body build, gender, size, age, skill level, and attitude. You don't get to pick who you run into in a real situation (doh!) so varying your opponents in training, in theory, should prepare you to better handle various life contingencies.

 

Systema Fundamentals - Introduction

This section is dedicated to various Systema concepts, principles, and types of training and exercises.

I found that it is difficult to describe everything pertaining to a particular concpt, exercise, or a typical progression of exercises in the diary because some of the information tends to be repetitive. During any class, an exercise or a concept may be used with a paritcular emphasis and it is more proper to limit writing to the relevant details to stay focused.

More importantly, searching for bits of information tends to get quite complicated and it is easier to keep it in one place.

Therefore, basic training exercises and their typical progression, as well as fundamental concepts and principles in Systema are described in this section and I will refer to the pertinent parts from the diary.
